Wrestling Stuff (Which Means That Everyone Who's Not Andy Will Pretty Much Ignore It, But Darn it, I'm Saying It Anyway)

Check this out.

Yep, Vince is holding onto a copyright he didn't create, which was promised to the guys who made it what it was, but because of a loophole he's saying that he'll sue if they ever even think of using it. And all because they dared to not want to take a pay cut. The nerve.

You know, there's a little promotion called TNA which will be getting a show on Spike TV in a few weeks. October1, in fact. When WWE moves to USA, TNA will start broadcasting on Spike, Saturday nights.

I know there are a lot of fans out there who have stereotyped TNA as "WCW 2" because of a lot of the talent involved and so forth, and haven't given the promotion the time of day since as a result. The war between WWE and WCW is still going on in their minds, I guess. Well, the time for such simplistic us vs. them-ism has to end, and now. Because with this event, and others in the past few years (Matt Hardy, the ritualistic cutting of tons of talented workers to hire more big-breasted Playboy models, firing Dawn Marie WHILE THE WOMAN IS PREGNANT, and more), it has become readily apparent that Vince McMahon, without competition to keep him in check, has degenerated into a massive personal ego trip, with little regard for anyone in his employ, nor any drive to make and maintain an entertaining product. Hey, we can't be beat, no matter what, because there's no one to beat us, so who cares if we send half the roster home? And I can appear on PPV with tons of hot chicks hanging off of me and announce that I'm running for president. Hope I don't tear both my quads again...

If wrestling is gonna survive in America, it won't be under Vince McMahon's watch. The best hope the sport has is with new blood - and TNA has that, in spades. To hell with Jeff Jarrett and KevinNash. TNA also has AJ Styles, Chris Sabin, Petey Williams, Samoa Joe, Raven, Monty Brown, tons of others. Guys who actually give a damn and try hard, and are given time in the ring to do so. They don't curttail their efforts so as not to "upstage" the "stars" like Hunter Hearst McMahon. They work their butts off, and have put on some of the damnedest wrestling I have seen in years.

I'm not saying to watch TNA only because of a principle - all I'm saying is, try it. Give it a chance. Because the best hope for the sport I love is for that company to succeed. Otherwise, the McLegacy will swallow it whole.
