Dear Ann Coulter,

As someone who possesses primarily liberal beliefs - the sort of person who apparently wants “mass starvation and human devastation,” you have claimed in the past - I would like to ask you to please, please, PLEASE continue to speak on behalf of the conservative point of view, wherever they will have you.

Particularly if you continue to regale your audiences with moments of wit and witticism as you did on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Ah, yes. Such insightful commentary - referring to an opposing party’s candidate with the most vicious of homosexual slurs. And in such a public forum, no less.

The obvious reaction - the one you have already tried to use to get out of it - is that it was just a joke. Ah, yes, humor, which you have shown such a mastery of in the past. Too bad this is not the first time you have mined this kind of incredibly well-thought-out, um, “satire.”

You’ve been doing this sort of thing for years. When you find someone at whom you cannot level much legitimate, honest criticism - which is often, as your ability to rationalize and engage in actual debate is quite limited - you decide the best way to win your point is to bluntly and blatantly insinuate homosexuality.

You have referred to Al Gore with a homosexual slur. You have insinuated Bill Clinton is gay (which, given HIS public track record, is particularly nonsensical). And in a recent “satirical” column, you were asked if Hillary Clinton has a good chance in 2008. Your response? “Good chance of what? Coming out of the closet? I’d say that’s even money.”

Oh, Ann, you and your razor wit.

This despite the fact that, to an increasing majority of Americans outside of, say, your reading audience, sexual preference is practically a non-issue, now. And despite the fact that, in the vast majority of cases, your “humorous” insinuations have no basis in reality and only betray your hateful, phobic, insipid core.

But, still, I beg you, continue to speak on behalf of conservatives everywhere, for as long as you can. Now, given the public reaction to your comment, this might not be too long, so please, take the stage and shout as much and as often as possible until they finally decide to yank the rug out from under your little stand-up act for good.

For I can think of no one in public life who is doing more to advance the liberal agenda than you, Ann. The more they let you speak, the less credible the conservative movement grows by the day.

So, shout it, Ann. Shout it from the rooftops. And don’t forget to not read the papers - the second you look well-informed or prepared with actual insight, it’ll all be over.

Sincerely,
Jeff McGinnis
